What do you see?

We can see many girls standing together in rows. We can see that they are all wearing the same outfit. Look closely, what do you see?

What do we know?

Throughout Wales, Scouting and Girl Guide groups were very popular activities for children. The groups organised camping trips, hikes and also taught the girls many life skills such as sewing, cooking, and basic survival skills. For many girls, these groups were an opportunity to make friends and, for many children living in bigger cities such as Cardiff, a way to experience the countryside. Not much information is known about this particular strand of Girl Guiding or why there was a particular Jewish group. It is possible that in addition to the trips and skills building, that the girls also learned some Jewish values and were able to explore their heritage.

What do you wonder?

We might wonder if it was difficult to organise taking this photo? We also might wonder what happened next? What do you wonder?
