Statement on the passing of HRH Queen Elizabeth II

The Trustees of the Foundation for Jewish Heritage share in the deep sorrow being felt across the United Kingdom, and indeed across the globe, on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen has been a towering figure over decades of astonishing duty and service, impacting the lives of so many. She will be sorely missed.

We welcome the accession of His Majesty King Charles III. The King has shown an interest in our Jewish heritage preservation work in visiting our special synagogue project in Merthyr Tydfil in Wales last year. We were honoured to host the then HRH The Prince of Wales, who spent an hour in the building discussing the state of the site and the Foundation’s plans for its future use as a Heritage Centre.

We express our sincere condolences to him and to all the members of the Royal family at this very sad time.
