Patrons for Merthyr

The Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of two high profile Patrons for its historic synagogue preservation project in Merthyr Tydfil in Wales – David Baddiel and Sir Michael Moritz KBE.

David Baddiel is a leading British comedian, author and television presenter. He is known for his work alongside Rob Newman in The Mary Whitehouse Experience and partnership with Frank Skinner. Besides comedy, David is also a screenwriter and a novelist, which includes writing a number of acclaimed children’s novels. He studied English at King’s College, Cambridge, where he was a member of the Cambridge Footlights, and graduated with a double first. His father Colin was born in Swansea.

Sir Michael Moritz KBE is a highly successful venture capitalist and former journalist who was born in Cardiff. He is a major philanthropist, especially in support of higher education. Sir Michael is also an author, which includes writing the first history of Apple. He studied at the University of Oxford and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and went on to found Technologic Partners before joining Sequoia Capital. He sits on the Boards of a number of major internet companies.
